Zahra Patterson is an experimental writer working in hybrid and nonlinear forms. Their Lambda Literary Award winning book Chronology (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2018) is a collage of fragments of memories, failed translations, and pieces of history. Her prose can be found in The Yale Review, Wasafiri Magazine, Belladonna* Chaplets, and elsewhere. Their performance writing has aired on Montez Press Radio and received staged readings at The Drake Theatre and WOW Café Theater. They have received fellowships from the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP) and PlayPenn’s Foundry, and they have received a residency from Mount Tremper Arts. Their community project, Raw Fiction, was funded by the Brooklyn Arts Council, the Pratt Center for Community Development, and many wonderful individuals. She holds an MFA in Writing from Pratt Institute and currently teaches literature at The Miami Valley School.
